About BIWA
On May 5th, Swimdo was invited by the Bali International Women’s Association (BIWA) to present our work at their Social Welfare Group meeting, and we are thrilled to share that the visit resulted in a generous donation to help us expand our reach across Bali.
The Bali International Women’s Association is a women’s organisation whose goal is to foster friendship and engagement among women of different nationalities, while contributing to the social welfare, education, and improved lives of underprivileged people throughout Bali. Established in 1974 by seven resourceful women from diverse cultures and backgrounds, BIWA was originally formed in response to a natural disaster in northern Bali. Since then, the organisation has grown into a vibrant community whose members all women, from Indonesia and around the world volunteer their time, resources, and expertise to support those in need.

BIWA supports registered charities and non-profit organizations across Bali that work on the front lines of education and health, with a focus on programs that protect, nurture, and empower women and children, helping families build safer, healthier futures and giving the next generation the chance to thrive.
Our Presentation
Agus and Indira represented Swimdo at the meeting, presenting our work and sharing the story of how Swimdo began. The Social Welfare Group holds monthly meetings and collectively decides which charitable programs to fund. The presentation sparked a lively discussion. Members asked about how we reach children across Bali, the challenges we face in running our programs, and what it takes to bring water safety education to remote communities. Many members expressed genuine interest in supporting our cause, and one even extended an invitation to collaborate and bring our water safety program to her village.

A Meaningful Partnership
We are deeply grateful to BIWA for their belief in our mission. The Social Welfare Group voted to donate Rp 25,000,000 to Swimdo, which will directly fund the reopening of our North Bali classes in the Gerokgak district, helping us reach children from the village of Sangalangit and surrounding areas.
This partnership reflects exactly the kind of community-driven support that makes our work possible. Thank you, BIWA, for opening your doors to us and for helping keep children safe in the water.
